“There is a brilliant child locked inside every student.” –Marva Collins
The Knowledge Quest has a two-part teaching philosophy. For every new student that comes in, we start by working at their comfort level. Then, we challenge them.
The idea behind this approach is that many learners lack self-confidence and the belief that they are capable of improving. Rather than push students who are stuck in this mindset, we instead begin by challenging these very beliefs. By working one-on-one at their comfort level with attentive and encouraging tutors, students begin to build confidence and unlearn the stress they may associate with academic underachievement. It is at this point that we challenge them to expand their knowledge. This approach both improves students’ academic performance in the short term and empowers them with the tools for future success.
